Misogyny
Now, many people do not know the entire history behind makeup and believe that women feel pressured to wear it because of misogynistic men. While that is not the entire truth, it does stem from men. As seen through the heartbreaking story of Hypnos and Aphrodite, makeup was created all because of a jealous ex-boyfriend. Since the gods ruled the world, men have loved to ruin things for women. Fortunately, however, women have always been able to come up with ways to counteract such woes. And now we have makeup!
